Baked Brown Rice

Total Time: 1 hr 5 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/2 cups brown rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water (or stock, vegetable juice, or other flavorful liquid)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
  • 2 teaspoons freeze-dried minced onions
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrot

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 375 degrees f.
  • 2 place the rice into a casserole with a cover. add any veggies or extra ingredients.
  • 3 bring the water (or liquid), butter, salt and spices just to a boil in a kettle or covered saucepan. once the water boils, pour it over the rice, stir to combine.
  • 4 cover the dish tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil and then place lid over that.
  • 5 bake on the middle rack of the oven for 1 hour.
  • 6 after 1 hour, remove cover and fluff the rice with a fork. serve immediately.
