Apple Cobbler

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 55 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (i use skim)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups apples, cored,thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • cinnamon (vary according to your taste, i use 1/2 tsp)

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter (or margarine) in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • 2 set aside to cool.
  • 3 use only as much butter as you need to cover the bottom of the pan.
  • 4 in a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • 5 mix in milk and vanilla.
  • 6 the batter might seem impossibly thick at first, but it thins out into pourable consistency with persistent stirring.
  • 7 you will not need to add any extra milk or water.
  • 8 pour batter over melted butter and sprinkle with half of the cinnamon.
  • 9 do not mix or stir.
  • 10 spoon the sliced apples over the batter and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon.
  • 11 again, do not mix or stir.
  • 12 bake at 350 degrees f (175 degrees c) for 55 minutes.
