Anna's Rye Bread

Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups rye flour
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 compressed yeast cakes (dissolved in .5 cup warm water)
- 6 cups flour (approximately)
Recipe
- 1 scald milk, add shortening, and then add brown sugar.
- 2 cool.
- 3 add rye flour, salt, and yeast.
- 4 add approximately 6 cups flour, enough to make a stiff dough.
- 5 let rise until doubled, about 3 hours.
- 6 knead and form into two loaves.
- 7 bake at 425 degrees f for 15 min, then at 325 degrees f for 35 minute.
