Asparagus Ham Rolls

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups skim milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 24 stalks fresh asparagus or 24 stalks frozen asparagus
  • 1/2 lb fully cooked ham, cut in 8 thin slices
  • 1/4 cup soft breadcrumbs

Recipe

  • 1 in a saucepan, melt margarine; stir in flour and cook until thick.
  • 2 gradually stir in milk and cook until bubbly and thickened.
  • 3 stir in cheese and pepper.
  • 4 remove from heat.
  • 5 place three asparagus stalks on each ham slice.
  • 6 roll up; secure with toothpick if necessary.
  • 7 place in an ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan, cover with cheese sauce.
  • 8 sprinkle with crumbs.
  • 9 bake, uncovered at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
