chocolate blossoms

Ingredients

  • Servings: 2
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar for rolling

    Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins Ready Time: 2 hrs 40 mins

  • in a medium bowl, mix together the butter and cocoa until smooth. beat in the sugar, eggs and vanilla until well blended. combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually blend into the chocolate mixture to form a dough. cover dough and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c). grease cookie sheets. roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll the balls in the confectioners' sugar. place cookies 3 inches apart the prepared cookie sheets.
  • bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, until the tops of the cookies have cracked. remove from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
