Apples And Onions: A Side Dish For Lamb

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb lean bacon
  • 1 lb apple, sliced
  • 1 lb onion, peeled and sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (use only if apples are tart and the onions too strong)

Recipe

  • 1 cut bacon in inch squares and fry out.
  • 2 remove bacon.
  • 3 reserve grease.
  • 4 clean the fry pan.
  • 5 add 1 tablespoon of bacon fat to hot fry pan and add onions.
  • 6 brown the onions until golden and translucent.
  • 7 add more fat if needed.
  • 8 add apples and cook until tender.
  • 9 taste, if mixture is a bit sharp, add brown sugar.
  • 10 pour apples/onions into a hot baking dish.
  • 11 top w/ crumbled bacon.
  • 12 cover& keep warm in oven until serving time.
