Blackberry Dumplings

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • milk
  • 3 pints fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter

Recipe

  • 1 sift the flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt into a medium bowl and mix well.
  • 2 add the egg, stirring until blended. add just enough milk to make a stiff batter and mix well.
  • 3 combine the blackberries, 1 cup sugar, water, and butter in a medium saucepan. bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 drop the batter 1 spoonful at a time (each spoonful should be 1/6 of the batter) into the boiling blackberry mixture. cover and simmer 15-20 minutes.
  • 5 serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
