Black Eyed Peas In The Crock Pot

Total Time: 4 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 4 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 5 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (14 ounce) cans black-eyed peas, drain liquid and rinse peas
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Recipe

  • 1 chop bacon into 1 inch pieces.
  • 2 add to medium pan and cook until crispy. do not drain off the grease!
  • 3 add onion, celery, and garlic to bacon and cook for 5 minutes.
  • 4 add all of the ingredients from the pan including the bacon grease to crock pot.
  • 5 add remainder of ingredients to crock pot.
  • 6 cook on low for 2 hours or on high for 1 hour.
  • 7 stir and serve on rice.
  • 8 enjoy.
