Aloo Mutter - Indian Potatoes With Peas

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • olive oil flavored cooking spray
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 medium red potatoes, peeled, and cut into 2 inch squares
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

Recipe

  • 1 spray saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • 2 add onion and stir fry for 1-2 minutes till golden brown.
  • 3 stir in tomatoes, salt, ground pepper and turmeric, stir fry for 1-2 minutes till tomatoes are tender.
  • 4 stir in remaining ingredients, except the garam masaala, boil, then reduce to medium-low. cover and simmer 5 minutes. uncover and cook for 5 minutes until sauce is thick.
  • 5 add garam masaala.
