Bacon And Brown Sugar-braised Collard Greens

Ingredients

- 2 slices smoked bacon 
 
- 1 cup chopped onion 
 
- 1 garlic clove, minced 
 
- 2 cups water 
 
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar 
 
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar 
 
- 1/2 teaspoon salt 
 
- 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper 
 
- 1 (16 ounce) package prewashed torn collard greens 
 
Recipe
- 1 cook bacon in a dutch oven over medium-high heat until crisp. remove bacon from pan, reserving drippings in pan. crumble bacon; set aside. 
 
- 2 add onion and garlic to drippings in pan; cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally.
