Ingredients
- 4 egg whites
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 combine egg whites, water, sugar, cream of tartar and salt in top of double boiler.
- 2 set over simmering water and beat with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes
- 3 until soft peaks are formed.
- 4 remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- 5 keep beating until frosting is stiff enough to spread. use immediately.
- 6 plenty enough to fill and frost he 2-layer devil's food cake.
