Barbara's Apple Pie

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 8 cups apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • pie crust

Recipe

  • 1 peel, core, and slice apples thinly.
  • 2 in a medium size bowl, mix apples with flour, sugar, and spices until no more dry ingredients remain.
  • 3 add more sugar to taste, depending on tartness of apples.
  • 4 at this point, the filling can be frozen in a zipper bag in a pie pan (to retain shape) to be used later.
  • 5 put filling into prepared pie crust of your choice.
  • 6 add top crust, making cut-outs or slashes for venting.
  • 7 trim and crimp edges.
  • 8 place a protective strip of aluminum foil around edge of crust.
  • 9 bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 40 to 50 minutes.
