Authentic Horchata

Total Time: 12 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 2 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 1 cup sugar (more or less to taste)
  • 2 -3 cinnamon sticks (more or less to taste)
  • water (hopefully your tap is next to your blender)
  • ice

Recipe

  • 1 put rice in blender.
  • 2 add water to blender (until about one inch above rice).
  • 3 add sugar and cinnamon.
  • 4 blend on any higher speed until consistent.
  • 5 strain into pitcher.
  • 6 put remnant (whats left in the strainer) back into blender.
  • 7 add more water (again, one inch) into blender.
  • 8 repeat steps 4-7 until all rice is done.
  • 9 add more water to the horchata if it is too sweet.
  • 10 either add ice to pitcher or serve in cups over ice.
